IRONMAN: WESTERN AUSTRALIA

The last oficial IRONMAN event of the year was held yesterday in Busselton/Australia. The event had great names but at the end of the day the winner was 24 year old Tim Berkel.


Mens Race:

Tim Berkel, the winner, had a practically perfect race with an impressive time of 8:07:06. The 44 year old runner up, Jason Shortis caught up with Berkel in the running phase, but with an excellent recovery from Berkel , Shortis had to settle for second.

Womens Race:

On the womens side, the Kiwi Gina Ferguson held off the grande favorite and last years winner Charlotte Paul to win it all with the time of 8:59:24.

One of the biggest names and favorite to win the event, Argentinian Oscar Galindez, was always with the leaders but started to tire out towards the end of the race and finished seventh.

Amateur Race:

Congratulations to the Brazilians Rodrigo Tosta and Alexandre Ventura who finished top 20 in their 25/29 age group with the times of 10:14:34(16th) and 10:17:52(19th) respectably.
